DOC.01What defines this style

Three vivid inks overlap with grain and imperfect registration.

Risograph printing passes separate stencil colors through a duplicator drum, producing translucent overlaps, coarse halftones and charming registration shifts. A portrait gains poster-like impact from only two or three inks while retaining the physical character of inexpensive print.

Use it for

  • Independent posters
  • Zine covers
  • Limited-edition prints

Practical notes

  1. In Stable Diffusion, add halftone after likeness is stable so dots do not distort the eyes.
  2. Ask ChatGPT to enforce exactly three inks when blended overlaps introduce unrelated colors.
  3. Preview each ink plate separately before sending files to a print studio.
